Blueberry Brown Sugar Scones

Joanne Bischof shines as a master wordsmith, painting vivid scenes textured with all five senses. This alone, makes it worth the read, but the story will sweep you away as much as its Appalachian setting. Lonnie's Blueberry Brown Sugar Scones

2 c. Flour 4 Tsp Baking powder 1 tsp Salt 1/2 c. Brown sugar + more for sprinkling 6 Tbsp Butter 3/4 c. Half and half or heavy cream 1 Egg 1/2 c. Dried blueberries

Mix dry ingredients together. In a separate bowl, combine wet ingredients. Using two knives, cut butter into flour mixture until it's the size of peas. Add wet ingredients to the dry and mix gently. Drop by heaping spoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet, or drop by spoonfuls into a scone pan. Sprinkle scones with brown sugar and bake at 375 for 15 to 17 minutes. Enjoy with your favorite cup of tea or coffee!

One thing I learned by visiting Joanne’s Web site was that Joanne does thorough research before writing her novels. She also does her best to send a message from the Lord, to her readers, through her books. The apron would be a great addition to my collection. I was the recipient of my grandmother's, and great grandmother's aprons, which I wear and cherish.

I want to meet Joanne.....after looking at her website and seeing she lives in So Cal, where I live. Not many women like her in this part of the country. And as a mil spouse, I would love to just sit and have tea/coffee with her and glean from her life's experiences. The book, Be Still My Soul, reminds me of Ps. 46:10 and a hymny which I can't recall the title.

I love this contest because I LOVE aprons! I have a vintage apron from the forties that I hate to even use. I learned from Joanne's website that she married her sweetheart and she lives in the mountains, which is probably how she can describe mountains so well in her book, which I love and I have the sequel on preorder.
